Caro diario · Pantalla Pavelló 2018

Film by Nanni Moretti
(IT, 1993, 96’) with presentation of Cecilia Ricciarelli, PhD in Cinema and professor at IED .

Three looks at contemporary Italy, the first of which focuses on Rome with a traveler, the director himself, traveling by motorcycle through different neighborhoods. It’s summer and the city is empty, the protagonist reflects on architecture and its inhabitants, on violence in cinema and on the transformation of urban values and belonging. In the second glance, we discover how the inhabitants of the Aeolian Islands live in isolation. In the third, a disease is the catalyser that fills the screen with paradoxes on contemporary Italy.

“La cosa che mi piace più di tutte è vedere le case, vedere i quartieri. E il quartiere che mi piace più di tutti è la Garbatella. E me ne vado in giro per i lotti popolari.
(…)
Anche quando vado nelle altre città l’unica cosa che mi piace fare è guardare le case. Bello sarebbe un lm fatto solo di case: panoramiche su case. Garbatella 1927, Villaggio Olimpico 1960, Tufello 1960, Vigne Nuove 1987, Monteverde 1939”.
