EU Mies Award Exhibition in Prague

Next Thursday, December 18 at 7pm the Premiere of the Exhibition of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2013 will take place at the National Gallery – Veletrzní palác.

The Exhibition presents panels with drawings and photos and audiovisuals of the 2013 edition of the Prize and of the 1988-2011 Winners and Emerging Architect Special Mentions.

The Award is granted every two years. The Harpa – Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Centre in Iceland, won the 2013 Prize. Designed by Henning Larsen Architects, Studio Olafur Eliasson and Batteríið Architects, the building has helped to transform and revitalise Reykjavik harbour and bring the city and port district closer together. The Emerging Architect Special Mention went to María Langarita and Víctor Navarro for the Red Bull Music Academy / Nave de Música Matadero in Madrid, Spain.

Before the opening, the debate “Breaking New Ground” will take place at KORZO, 1st floor with the participation of Michal Kohout (architect, UNIT Architects, Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University, Prague), Igor Kovacevic (architect, CCEA, Prague, expert of Mies van der Rohe Award), Jana Tichá (exhibition curator, Zlatý řez, expert of Mies van der Rohe Award) and Ivan Blasi (coordinator of the Prize and curator of the collection of the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, Barcelona)
