La Grande Bellezza · Pantalla Pavelló 2018

La Grande Bellezza (IT, 2013, 142’). A film by Paolo Sorrentino, presented by Celia Marín, Architect and PhD on History by UPF.

The baroque and decadent Rome with its palaces, the Fontana dell’Acqua Paola del Gianicolo, the Giardino degli Aranci, the Piazza Navona, the upper bourgeoisie penthouses, the ruins of the Parco degli Acquedotti. All the visual references are immense, there is no sculpture, monument, fountain or square that has not marked a milestone in the history of the arts. We discover new scenes of Rome that show it neat and tidy, while the disorder and decadence are only found in the relationships of the protagonists: envy and contempt, suffering, ridicule and pride, a society that flaunts and hides fragility and lies, banalities.
