Fundació Mies van der Rohe takes part in the fourteenth edition of the conference series Arquinset 2020 that, this year explores the subject of temporary interventions and ephemeral architecture as means for creating significance and identity for events and urban environments.
In the session “Ephemeral Interventions and Architectural Heritage” Ivan Blasi will provide his view as the artistic curator of two of the interventions held at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion that have been awarded with the FAD Awards in 2017 and 2019 respectively: “Commemorative columns of the 30 years since the reconstruction of Barcelona’s German Pavilion” by Luis Martínez Santa María and Roger Sauquet Llonch, and “Mies Missing Materiality” by Anna and Eugeni Bach.
They are ephemeral interventions in an ephemeral that serve as an example to mediate on the extent to which the interventions in the heritage building is limited by the logic of the historical building itself but also on how an intervention helps explain less obvious and known aspects of the building that occasionally invades it and its past lives.
Conference via streaming.
