Barcelona Obertura: Beethoven Sonatas I Music Pavilion

The Mies van der Rohe Pavilion once again becomes the Music Pavilion in the framework of the  Obertura City+ programme, as part of the Barcelona Obertura Spring Festival which retakes the proposal of the Beethoven Marathon on the 250th anniversary of this birth, which was interrupted by the pandemic.

From 4 to 6 June, 10 pianists will perform the complete 32 piano sonatas by the composer in various emblematic venues on Montjuïc, with free admission to give everyone the opportunity to listen to young local musical talents.

The Mies van der Rohe Pavilion will host two consecutive concerts by Marc Serra and Noelia Rodiles respectively on Friday 4 June. Two piano concerts that will allow us to enjoy a complex and demanding programme by two outstanding pianists of the young generation with great sensitivity and musical intelligence that we hope you will also enjoy in this space that makes music special.

Marc Serra made his debut as a soloist at the age of sixteen at the Auditori Palau de Congressos de Girona under the baton of Lluís Caballeria and was awarded in numerous national and international competitions. He made his debut at the Palau de la Música as part of “El Primer Palau”. Much of his activity is dedicated to Lied; thus, he participates in the recording of the CD “Pau i Victòria” and in recent years he collaborates with the Master of Lied at ESMUC. He has also taken part in the Schubertíada Vilabertran and the LIFE Victòria, among other festivals.

Noelia Rodiles’ musical trajectory includes concerts in the main concert halls of Spain, as well as in Germany, Italy, France, Poland, Tunisia, Bolivia and Jordan. As a soloist, she has performed with orchestras such as the Orquesta Simfónica del Principado de Astúrias, the Heinrich Heine Orchestra of Düsseldorf or The Soloists of London, among others, under the direction of masters such as Víctor Pablo Pérez, Michael Thomas, Marzio Conti, Ramon Tébar and Pablo Mielgo.
