The Mies van der Rohe Foundation invites you teachers to learn first hand the educational activity “Descobrim les claus de l’arquitectura moderna” that we offer to A-level students. Attending your demand and encouraged by the good experience resulting from the sessions done so far, this course also presents, as a pilot experience, an educational activity aimed at primary school students.
On a large model with moving parts, we experimentally show you the possible path taken by the ideas of Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich, which have come to us through their writings and sketches, that finally materialised in the German Pavilion of the 1929 Barcelona Universal Exposition.
This exercise will help you to broaden your perspective and understand why the Pavilion became an architectural manifesto that changed how architecture was understood around the world, and how it is still a benchmark and source of inspiration for young generations of architects.
Enjoy a Saturday morning discovering one of the hidden treasures of the city of Barcelona and get ready to share it with your students!
