On 16 October the short films created as part of the second edition of the Architecture and Cinema Workshop, directed by the filmmaker, teacher and coordinator Maria Mauti with the participation of students from ETSAB and ELISAVA , will be presented in the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona.
Maria Mauti’s pedagogical and artistic proposal is made possible thanks to the collaboration of Antonio Pizza, founder and professor in charge of the subject “City, Architecture and Cinema” (ETSAB-UPC), and of professor Daria de Seta, Coordinator of the Space Area of the Degree in Design at ELISAVA.
The students have carried out their research reflecting on the poetics of two great figures, who are celebrating important anniversaries this 2020. Twenty years since the death of the disruptive architect Enric Miralles, and a hundred years since the birth of the visionary director Federico Fellini. The event of 16 October and the work carried out are dedicated to these two giants.
Fifty students from these two universities have been involved in this journey, which has taken place before and during the lockdown period. ELISAVA will present the short films made before the state of alarm, on two strongly cinematographic sites: Parc dels Colors in Mollet del Vallès (Miralles Tagliabue EMBT) and the Civic Centre in Els Hostalets de Balenyà (Miralles/Pinós). ETSAB will show the work done by the students during the confinement, which led to the production of a collective film, 22 Homes, a significant and unique testimony of architecture seen from its windows. Never before has time served as a guide to understand and represent a space that was lived totally “inside”, both inside and outside their houses.
