The 25 Years of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award have influenced architecture and have opened the way to cultural exchange.
“Breaking New Ground” is a dialogue on the role of architecture in the last 25 years and today, its potential; the importance and effect of external inputs (legislation, competitions, energy efficiency, security, adaptability; and present day strategies (changes in studio structures, partnerships, promotion of younger generations, influence of private involvement vs public investment, work abroad…).
“Breaking New Ground” has already taken place at the Triennale di Milano (with Vittorio Gregotti, Alessandro Scandurra, Cino Zucchi and Luca Piraino) and in the Kaunas Architecture Festival (with Audrys Karalius, Wim Menten, Jūratė Tutlytė and Gintaras Balčytis) and will be presented in the next venues that have been scheduled (Reykjavik, Madrid, Lisbon, Vienna, Leuven, Copenhaguen, Barcelona, Graz, Paris, Ljubljana, Frankfurt, Essen, Trondheim, New York-MoMa, Schenzhen-China and Venice-Biennale).
We invite you to the next Breaking New Ground dialogue that will take place at Roca Madrid Gallery on Wednesday 2 October 2013 at 07:30pm.
