Exhibition and debate “Architecture is of Public Interest” in Moscow

Fundació Mies van der Rohe presents Architecture is of Public Interest at the Schusev State Museum of Architecture in Moscow within the framework of Public Architecture – Future for Europe organised by ECC Russia and also bring the debate on the role of architecture in improving the environments in which we live.

The various scales and tools with which artists express themselves in speeches at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion promote the public interest in architecture. This is shown by Geometry of Light, Mies Missing Materiality and Ai Weiwei. With Milk _find something everybody can use or the documentary Mies on Scene: Barcelona in two acts that are the main thread of the exhibition.

The public interest and the help to shape the future of Europe is also promoted through architecture by the solutions proposed at the works awarded in the latest editions of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award and of the YTAA.

In “Architectur-ing a Future in Culture. Examining the status of cultural public spaces through architectural practice” Ivan Blasi (Coordinator of Awards and Programs at Fundació Mies van der Rohe ) will debate public architecture in Europe with Cristina Parreno (professor at the School of Architecture and Planning of the MIT), Johannes Baar Baarenfels (Baar-Baarenfels Architects), Daniel Blum (IttenBrechbühl Basel) and Anna Torriani (APT Architecture). What does it mean to think and build architecture of public interest?
