Exhibition Young Talent Architecture Award (YTAA) 2018

The Young Talent Architecture Award (YTAA) is organised in partnership with the European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE), the Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE-CAE); and World Architects, as well as the European Cultural Centre as a partner in Venice, and it is conceived as an extension of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award in order to support the talent of recently graduated Architects, Urban Planners and Landscape Architects, who will be responsible for transforming our environment in the future.

The results are displayed two formats: a catalogue and an exhibition. The exhibition presents the designs of the selected projects highlighting the 8 finalists and the 4 winners. Together with images, drawings and models, other tools such as videos are used to explain graduation projects. The exhibition counts with these documents produced by the authors of the designs and is complemented with the Awards Ceremony and a debate on September 20 in which the theme of the Biennale Architettura 2018 Freespace, the main topics of the “European Year of Cultural Heritage” organized by the European Commission, and those issues which arise from the results of YTAA will be discussed by the winners, the jury members, the Future Architecture platform participants and other guests.

Then, this traveling exhibition will be presented in Architecture Schools and Institutions with the aim to discover how architecture studies are being carried forward and to open the debate on how architecture is taught. It also aims to raise awarness of the Award itself, illustrating how it works and what its values are. By showing together all the Graduation Projects presented in the YTAA 2018, we have an overview of the subjects that have been discussed by students and professors in European Schools1 during the last two years. Projects are displayed separately as: nominated projects per school, shorlisted projects and winning & finalists projects in order to explain the YTAA as a discussion and selection process. By highlighting the results of YTAA 2018 the intention is to transmit the enthusiasm to architecture students and schools and encourage them to take part in the upcoming YTAA.

YTAA 2018 exhibition has been designed as an easy download and print format to keep things simple and accesible for any Architecture School and Institution which wishes to host it.
