Fundació Mies van der Rohe is a member of the Future Architecture Platform, the first pan-European platform for museums, festivals and architecture promoters that brings ideas about the future of cities and architecture to the general public. Its aim is to explore and share ideas to promote innovation, architecture, culture, knowledge and social capital in Europe through a common platform with the support of the Creative Europe program of the European Union.
Since 2017, this platform has hosted the participation in its program of activities throughout Europe of the authors of the Young Talent Architecture Award winning projects organised by Fundació Mies van der Rohe with the support of the Creative Europe program of the European Union within the framework of the EU Mies Award in collaboration with EAAE, ACE-CAE and World Architects.
Future Architecture Platform’s goals:
-Think Future. We highlight the emerging generation of talents in various disciplines and explore and share their ideas about the future of cities and architecture.
-Exchange. 20 organisers from 16 countries are creating a pan-European programme, tour emerging creators and present their ideas at exhibitions, conferences, lectures and workshops, in books and on the web.
-Raise awareness. The platform makes complex issues of architecture comprehensible to everyone, and promotes a more sustainable living environment.
-Build commitment. A Future Architecture European Quality label recognizes organisers who work with aspiring emerging talents and show their commitment to the platform objectives.
The Future Architecture platform introduces and celebrates innovation, experimentation and the ideas of a generation that will design the architecture and build Europe’s cities in the years to come. It promotes European innovation, architecture, culture, knowledge and social capital through a single common platform.
The current edition, under the name Architecture for the Future – Landscapes of care will explore the dynamics of solidarity and auto-organisation, networks of trust on a neigborhood level and of common transition spaces and activities. It aims to initiate dialogues around the challenges of a society in which, facing the challenge of the health crisis, designers, architects and urban planners delve into social and political issues, as well as the spatial and formal aspects of a project, and have proven their ability to act in an effective, rapid and peaceful manner.
The call for ideas has received a total of 457 very interesting proposals that raise new ideas that not only address current social issues, but also take a step forward and offer answers to actively solve them. Along with the other members of the pan-European platform of museums, festivals and architecture promoters Future Architecture Platform, we celebrate the great success represented by the response of 900 applicants from 63 different countries.
