Presentation of the publication “The Stadium, the Pavilion and the Palace” by Domènec

We would like to invite you to the presentation of the publication on the intervention “L’estadi, el pavelló i el palau”, which Domènec carried out in the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in 2018 as part of the exhibition “Domènec. Ni aquí ni enlloc” at MACBA.

Between 18 April and 6 May 2018, Domènec’s intervention transformed the Pavilion by recreating the use after the Civil War of some of the sites of the 1929 International Exhibition in Barcelona as spaces for the internment of immigrants. A situation that worsened when the City Council decided to use the Olympic Stadium to “temporarily” house the residents of Somorrostro, who lived there until 1968. The title of this work comes from an article by J.M. Huertas Claveria published in the magazine Destino on 10 December 1966.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday 30 at 7 p.m. at MACBA to show you this new catalogue, the result of the collaboration between the Fundació Mies van der Rohe and MACBA, which gathers the impact of the images left by the intervention in the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion and documents it extensively with articles by the artist himself, by Teresa Grandas, who curated the MACBA exhibition, and by Juanjo Lahuerta.
