‘Per Amor a les Arts’ in La Filmoteca

The ‘Per Amor a les Arts’ cycle acts as a mirror where the various artistic disciplines proposed by the different entities and institutions involved are reflected in a film that illustrates, expands or distorts them to provide new perspectives.

Every Tuesday, from October to June, the Filmoteca de Catalunya hosts film sessions linked to painting, theatre, dance, architecture, music, design, literature or opera in sessions presented by creators or experts.

The Fundació Mies van der Rohe shares the objective of encouraging dialogue between the arts and cinema in its role as a universal language, which allows it to dialogue with each of them and participates by proposing two films for this edition:

25.02.2025, 17h + 27.02.2025 21:00h

Helsinki, ikuisesti (Helsinki, forever). 74′
Peter von Bagh, 2008

Symphony of a city profoundly admired by Chris Marker, who valued the magnificent portrait of the history and the ghosts of Helsinki, as well as the personal connection that the filmmaker has with the city. A collage of archival images and scenes from films that have been shot there, the film becomes an intimate vision of a city full of memories, shadows, and transformations.

27.05.2025

Tall: The American Skyscraper and Louis Sullivan. 79′
Manfred Kirchheimer, 2006

Contemplative gaze towards the architecture of American Louis Sullivan, the film captures the everyday magic of architecture and offers an introduction to the Chicago School, highlighting the materiality of its buildings and their interaction with the life that surrounds them.
