
As part of the celebration of Women’s Day, we invite you to come to the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion to learn firsthand the splendid research work of M.ª Elia Gutiérrez, José Parra, Ana Gilsanz and Joaquín Arnau that has made it possible to thoroughly document the work and extensive career of the composer, architect, researcher and activist Anna Bofill Levi.
The team that the jury made up of Aaron Betsky, Débora Domingo Calabuig and Zaida Muxí awarded the Lilly Reich Grant for equality in architecture for the proposal ‘Anna Bofill Levi. Architecture as a Counter-Melody (1977-1996)’ in conversation with Anna Bofill herself will unravel the different stages and facets of her professional life and her legacy.
The research team is made up of three architects, research members of the University Institute of Gender Studies Research of the University of Alicante, UA: Maria Elia Gutiérrez Mozo, José Parra Martínez and Ana Gilsanz Díaz, who are part of the teaching team of Architectural Composition of the Department of Graphic Expression, Composition and Projects of the Superior Polytechnic School of the UA, to which is added Joaquín Arnau Amo, retired professor of Aesthetics and Composition at the Superior Technical School of Architecture of Valencia (ETSAV), from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) and musicologist.
From June 16, coinciding with the anniversary of Lilly Reich’s birth, the call for the fourth edition of the Lilly Reich Grant for equality in architecture will be opened and new proposals that fulfill the purpose of the scholarship that, since its first edition in 2018, supports the study, dissemination and visibility of contributions to architecture that have been discriminated against, relegated and forgotten.
