Beyond the summer cycle Pantalla Pavelló, the projection on the travertine of the documentary “Mass is More” reviews and analyzes the radical transformation that took place a year ago in the framework of the European Forest City 2022, a large laminated wood structure bring to the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion with the artistic intervention of the same name.
This feature-length documentary produced by the Institut d’Arquitectura Avançada de Catalunya (IAAC) and directed by Jaume Cebolla, shows us the evolution of the Pavilion as imagined by Daniel Ibáñez and Vicente Guallart of the IAAC and Alan Organschi of Bauhaus Earth. It makes us appreciate the innovative design and commitment to the decarbonisation of the construction sector linked to sustainable forest management in an immersive journey that discovers the design and construction process of the intervention.
The documentary provides an in-depth exploration of the transition from 20th century materials to 21st century eco-innovations, illustrating how regenerative materials, particularly cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels from local forests, are reshaping the industry construction reducing its environmental impact.
A first-person perspective on the transformative journey of wood from the forest to integrating with the grid of the Pavilion while creating new pathways and view corridors.
